Table Dressing
|
 |
It doesn’t take much to create a tablescape that will wow your family and friends. Our holiday table was trimmed in no time, using ready-made Christmas ornaments, candles, pine cones and roses. We wanted our table to glow, so we used a gold tablecloth and matching napkins for shimmer and shine.
|
 |
Each place setting has two napkins, one white linen to use, the other for adornment. |
To assemble the napkins, place the gold napkin on top of the white linen napkin. At the center of the napkins, place your pointer finger underneath the white one, then pull up. At the end wrap your ornament around the napkins and place on the center of the plate.Slide a rose underneath, so the petals are on the left, the stem on the right.
|
For added surprise, we placed a rose at each plate.Cinnamon-scented pine cones were scattered about along the center of the table, along with votives and roses. The roses were cut, leaving about 2 to 3 inches of stem so we could group them in small bowls. Tapers were placed on the diagonal at each end of the table for height and balance. |

Buffet Style
For large crowds, serving buffet-style is the way to go. We put
a small decorated tree in a garden urn at one end of the sideboard, then
surrounded the urn and tree with collectibles and accessories usually
displayed in the room. Silk florals add color and help to connect the
arrangement with other holiday decorations in the room.
Another buffet display features our Charles Dickens-style village.
An inexpensive piece of white foam board dotted with cotton and glitter is use
d to make “snow.” For shimmer at night, place twinkle lights behind and
weave through the buildings.
